In the Dye Pot: My first skein of naturally dyed yarn! 

I recently finished spinning a skein from a bare Falkland combed top, and I decided it was finally time to try dyeing with some onion skins that I had been collecting. 


I used a few different resources to make sure my ratios were right, particularly for mordanting (I used alum). The Modern Natural Dyer and It’s a Stitch Up were very helpful. 


And the result:


I’m pretty pleased with how it came out. I’m thinking next I’ll dye some yarn using some of the abundant blackberries growing on the property.
